The consultation giving residents the chance to comment on detailed proposals to revitalise a Grade II listed park into “one of the finest in east London” ends today.

Feedback Fortnight on proposals for improvements to Wanstead Park is due to finish at midnight tonight.

The park, on English Heritage’s Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest, was placed on its “at risk” register in 2009.

City of London Corporation’s proposals, with work due to start next year, include extensive work to Heronry Pond, which would see it completely relined, wildlife habitats restored and boating reintroduced.

The Temple is set to be refurbished into a “visitor hub” with a new cafe and the main entrances of the park will be improved with new signage and maps installed.

The site of the old mansion, demolished in the 19th century, is due to become a tourist site in itself with signs detailing its size and history.

There are also plans for the park to be used for self-guided tours with a smartphone app, and generating income with open air cinema and concerts.

People can view proposals and complete the online questionnaire until the end of the day by clicking here.
