An award winning business which has been booming for the last 12 months is setting up shop in Waltham Forest for a limited time only.

E17 based ‘Bestowed Kitchen’ was set up less than a year ago, but has already made waves around Walthamstow with its menu and variations on traditional meals.

The pop-up deli-cafe is the brainchild of couple Jeremy Wood and Sabrina Floriani.

Mr Wood, a Walthamstow resident, said: “Food has been a huge passion and inspiration for us; I especially, had been thinking about working in food for a long while and it had grown to obsession levels in the last few years.

“Sabrina and I felt that there was a need for more quality food businesses in the area.

“Our main focus is simply on serving great food that looks and tastes fantastic, is creatively and freshly prepared.

“We pride ourselves on quality and try to make everything from scratch as much as possible, for example our apple wholegrain mustard, chutneys, preserved lemons and soda breads are all handmade.

“Our salads are probably are signature dishes really and what we believe differentiate us; they are filling, healthy and have lots of unexpected flavours going on.”

The couple started out in March 2014 with a stall in the market, before going on to cater for the E17 Art Trail closing party, hosting stalls at the Barbican Garden Party and opening small pop-ups.

Now, the duo hope they can expand further.

“We were bowled over by the response we got. We have loved being part of the burgeoning food and drink scene here which very much exploded last year,” Mr Wood continued.

“The shop, especially the fact that it is rent and rate free, provides an amazing opportunity for us to ‘test’ our ideas further with low risk, see what the response is like and help build towards getting a permanent space in the future.

Last year, Bestowed Kitchen won ‘best start-up’ at the Waltham Forest Small Business Awards.

The Hoe Street shop will be decorated with artwork from local illustrators Linda Hughes and Andrew Baker, and the space will be furnished with exclusively created upcycled furniture from local designer Claire Loescher.

It will open for 11 days from March 18.

The pop-up will close with a specially curated vegetable, fruit and herb inspired cocktail night as part of the Cultivate festival on March 28 from 7.30pm.
