A teenager has failed to make it through the final rounds of the BBC's The Voice.

Former West Hatch High School student Ryan Green was not chosen as a potential winner by mentor Will i Am on Saturday.

Ryan had joined the rapper and producer's team of eight when he was ‘stolen’ from Rita Ora in the previous round.

Following his elimination, Ryan tweeted: “I've had an amazing time on @BBCTheVoiceUK this year, thanks to everyone for the support, this is just the beginning for me!”

Ryan, who lives in Hainault, left West Hatch High School in 2013.

He is now studying full-time at the Brit School.

It was the second time the 18-year-old had appeared on the show, having failed to get through the ‘blind audition’ stage last year.

The singer/pianist was a regular performer at school concerts, sometimes performing his own work.

West Hatch High School music teacher Mauro Sheehan said: “Congratulations to Ryan Green on his attempt to get through the knockout stage.

“After being ‘stolen’ by Will, Ryan gave a sterling performance but lost out to three others of his team. I wish him well.

“As Mozart said of the young Beethoven: ‘Mark that young man. He will make himself a name in the world’."

Ryan also plays percussion and attendeds Redbridge Music School.

He was not the only West Hatch High School pupil to feature in a national television talent show.

Jonathan Antoine and Charlotte Jaconelli, the singing duo Jonathan and Charlotte, were runners-up in ITV's Britain's Got Talent three years ago while Sonny Jay, part of the Loveable Rogues, reached the final in the same year.

Meanwhile John Wilding reached the judges' houses stage on ITV's X-Factor for two successive years in 2010 and 2011.
