Supporters of a life-saving charity have been recognised for their fundraising efforts with a helipad tour.

Chingford residents, including Brian and Gillian Gage of Dale View Crescent, were invited by London's Air Ambulance (LAA) to view the helipad at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel on March 2.

The group has raised and donated over £2,000 to the charity since 2007 when Mr and Mrs Gage's son, Adam, 25, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Chingford Hatch.

His life was saved after being airlifted by the LAA to the Royal London Hospital.

The LAA's biggest ever campaign 'Your London, Your Helicopter' was launched last week in a bid to raise £4.4m for a second helicopter.

In 2014, 1,806 critically ill patients were treated by the service, including 57 people within Waltham Forest.
