A man is in a critical condition after being stabbed while sitting in a car.

The victim, in his 20s, was attacked in Borwick Avenue in Walthamstow on Monday evening (March 16).

Police and paramedics were called at 8.25pm to nearby Bedford Road, where the man was treated before being taken to hospital.

He remains in a critical condition.

It is believed that he was attacked while sitting in a Toyota Yaris.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in the Essex area on Tuesday (March 17) in connection with the attack.

He was taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.

Last night a man in his 30s was also stabbed in nearby Gaywood Road.

A number of men have been stabbed in the borough since the beginning of the year, with six reported cases.

A man was stabbed in the chest and arms in Coppermill Lane in February, just hours before another man was chased into a shop and stabbed in Leytonstone High Road.

Also, in February, three men were hospitalised with knife injuries after an incident outside Tesco in Forest Road and a man was stabbed in the back while cycling through Walthamstow later that week.
