A popular community festival which attracts tens of thousands of visitors year-after-year could see a record turnout this year.

Organiser Irene Bull, 61, has run and organised the annual Chingford Village Festival since its inception in 1994.

This year's festival on June 13 is being sponsored by the Guardian and national car company Motorpoint, which has a large branch in Lea Valley Road, Chingford.

It is believed to be the biggest independently-run event of its type in east London and featured its biggest ever line up last year after being cancelled in 2013 due to a lack of funding and sponsorship.

Crowds will be able to enjoy the sunshine and entertainment for an hour longer this year as Ms Bull has said certain venues will remain open to the public until 6pm.

She said: "I am very happy and proud to announce that this years' festival is being sponsored by Motorpoint.

"It means a lot to me, not just easing the financial situation and making it more viable for me to run the event but its good to have acknowledgement from a national company, who get involved with many large, national and corporate events, including sporting and concert events.

"The Guardian is also once again sponsoring the event, for which I am very grateful.

"The Chingford Village Festival looks set to break the records of past attendances if community involvement is anything to go by.

"But as always, I am looking for new and exciting acts particularly choirs, school choirs and stall holders selling or promoting health & beauty products and services."

The venues announced so far, include Chingford Green, Chingford Assembly Hall, St Peter and St Paul's Church, Vestry Hall, Mornington Hall, The United Services Club and Chingford Methodist Church.

The Mornington Hall Gardens will be transformed into a designated children’s area with an exotic pets corner, nursery school stands and stalls selling children's toys and games.

A second section of the garden will be a tranquil relaxing space for adults to indulge in health and beauty products and treatments including massages and manicures.

Ms Bull is hoping to run a series of catwalks and fashion shows in The Assembly Hall which will feature clothing from local designers and retailers.
