“Local people deserve better than the Tories' permanent austerity or Labour's plans to continue racking up the national debt.

“I'm really looking forward to getting out onto the streets and speaking to people about what we've achieved in government and why we need to keep going to deliver a strong economy and a fair society that works for everyone.”

Cllr Ian Bond, leader of Redbridge Lib Dems, announced the decision on Tuesday (March 17) .

He said: “We're all very pleased to have such a young, energetic and local candidate to lead our campaign this year.

“A majority government this year, either Tory or Labour, would damage Britain; we're seeking the support of voters who'd like to see politicians in Westminster continue to work together in our national interest.”
