MP Elanor Laing has registered her support for a security trust alongside Prime Minister David Cameron.

The Epping Forest MP attended a dinner hosted by the Community Security Trust (CST) on Wednesday (March 18) alongside the likes of Mr and Mrs Philip Leigh, leading members of the Epping Forest Jewish community and the Prime Minister.

The dinner, which was held to raise awareness for the charity, which protects British Jews from anti-Semitism and related threats, was attended by 1,300 supporters.

The charity secures over 600 Jewish communal buildings and approximately 1,000 communal events every year.

In his speech, Mr Cameron commended the work of the trust.

He said: "at a time when once again the Jewish communities of Europe feel vulnerable and when anti-Semitism is at record levels here in Britain - I will not stand by.

"I will not turn a blind eye to the threats that the community faces.

“You don’t just say leave it to the government, or leave it to the police, you say 'I want to do my bit, I want to take responsibility.'

"You epitomise not just the best of our Jewish community - but the best of Britain.”

Epping Forest MP Eleanor Laing said: “The shocking and horrifying events in Paris in January exemplify why the CST does its vital work.

"It was inspirational to stand with our Jewish community at this time of urgent need

“I am proud of the cultural diversity in our communities and the freedom on which our country is built.

"We must remain vigilant and be proud of our Judeo-Christian heritage.”
