A successful chef has given up a dream job in heart of trendy Soho to serve schoolchildren.

Nicole Pisani recently left Nopi, run by famous chef Yotam Ottolenghi’s restaurant, to run the kitchen at a school in Hackney.

As part of her new campaign to get healthier school meals going, she is touring London in a 'Cooking Bus'.

This week, the bus is at Kelmscott School in Markhouse Road, Walthamstow.

Pisani met with kitchen staff and showed them some of her best budget recipes.

She said: “I’m thrilled to be able to run a special session with fellow school cooks to show how we can make really healthy meals very tasty and do this on a tight budget.

“It's important that we recognise the huge amount of dedication school cooks bring and how crucial they are in improving school meals.”

Miss Pisani is working with The Food for Life Partnership.

They are currently promoting the 'Increase Your School Meal Take Up' programme which is being funded by the Department for Education.

As of September this year, healthy eating will become part of the Ofsetd grading criteria.
