Creepy crawlies are to given a new purpose-built home this weekend through the help of children and adults living on an estate.

The bug hotel, constructed out of plates of wood, roof tiles, plastic pipes and other materials, will be installed on Aldriche Way estate in Highams Park on Saturday.

Housing association Ascham Homes has organised the event primarily for children to explore the insect world.

Residents are also encouraged to lead healthier lifestyles by making use of the vegetable boxes that will also be installed during the event from 10am to 12pm.

A similar bug hotel was installed on Priory Court Estate in Walthamstow in December.
