A six-week consultation over a proposed post office move has finished.
The consultation, which discussed The Broadway Post Office in Loughton merging with convenience store, McColl’s, to allow the service to open until 11pm on weekdays and Saturday’s and 10.30pm on Sunday’s, finished on Thursday (March 19).
The branch, which is currently run by a temporary Postmaster, proposed the move after learning that the office could close at short notice due to the lack of a permanent operator.
If successful, McColl’s would undergo a full refurbishment to incorporate a bright new Post Office within the store.
If successful the post office will merge with convienence store, McColl's.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Consultation on the proposed re-location of Broadway Post Office ended on March 19.
“We are currently looking at the feedback received during public consultation before a decision is announced in the near future.”
The merger would see the service, which currently opens until 5.30pm on weekdays, 12.30pm on Saturday’s and is closed on Sundays, open for a further 78 hours a week.
The decision is set to be announced next week.
