Police in Ongar have seized around 100 cannabis plants.
The illegal plants were growing in an address off High Street and were discovered on Wednesday (March 25).
Officers were called by a electricity company when engineers executed a warrant and found that power supplies to the property had been tampered with.
The plants and a large quantity of hydroponic equipment was seized by police.
No one was at the address at the time of the search and enquiries are continuing to establish who was responsible for the cannabis crop.
Anyone with information should contact the investigating officer Pc Rachael Tappenden on 101.
