A group of 15 travel and tourism students from Epping Forest College visited Barcelona earlier this month.

The educational visit offered the students the opportunity to gather evidence for their assignments as well as enhance their knowledge of the travel industry, more in particular Barcelona as a tourist destination.

Students from the college, in Borders Lane, Loughton, visited famous sights including the port of Barcelona, the Nou Camp, Port Olympia, Las Ramblas and the cathedral Sagrada Família.

They were accompanied by 2 lecturers, Michael Owusu-Dartey and Simone Butler.

Student Avril Hahn said: “I learnt so many things from the football stadium Camp Nou, as it had all the trophies Barcelona had won in all the football matches they have played.

“When we got to go inside and see the pitch, I was very shocked to see how massive it actually was. All of these memories that we all had together will never be forgotten.”

Students also used eLearning resources such as blogging on wordpress.com and whatsapp where students had to post about their time in Barcelona and communicate with their peers and lecturers.

Olivia Julien said: “It was amazing. I got to know my class mates and tutors better, explore the culture and city of Barcelona, and understand how excursions and holidays are sold and put it into practice.”

Abbie Harold added: “The trip was fantastic. I enjoyed every minute of it. Not only did I connect with the class mates, but they are also my friends now. I was able to explore parts of the city and learn facts which have positively impacted upon my learning and development, aiding me with my assignment. I will never forget the memories that the group has made.”
