A DRIVER in Wanstead had a lucky reunion with his stolen car after spotting it on his way home from work.
He had lost it after leaving his keys in the ignition while filling up with petrol at 1.30pm on Tuesday, February 6, at the Aldersbrook service station on the Aldersbrook Road.
The following day he was walking home along Belgrave Road when he spotted the green Vauxhall estate Zafira parked and locked at the junction with Lakehouse Road.
No damage had been done to it but some items had been stolen from inside, and police are warning motorists not to leave their keys in their car for however short a time.
The man who took the car is thought to be white with short cropped blonde hair and wearing a white jacket.
Anyone with information should call Ilford police on 8478 1123.
