OFFICERS investigating the murder of a Polish woman who was last seen in Leytonstone have released pictures of tube passengers they believe may unwittingly hold clues to her disappearance.

Beata Bryl, 23, boarded a westbound tube train at Leytonstone station at 11.30pm on July 28.

The body of Ms Bryl was found at 1pm the next morning in woods near Wooburn Green, in Buckinghamshire.

A post-mortem revealed that she had suffered head injuries and her body had been set on fire.

Flyers and pictures of Ms Bryl were distributed at Leyton and Leytonstone tube stations in December but these have been unsuccessful in helping the police solve the mystery of Ms Bryl's disappearance and murder.

Now police are releasing images of people who may have information that could assist the murder inquiry, but are unaware of its significance.

The pictures show passengers who may have seen Ms Bryl on the train and could help identify how long she remained in the carriage.

Police are keen to stress that the passengers shown on the posters are being sought purely to assist officers in tracing Ms Bryl's movements after she boarded the train at Leytonstone and are not believed to be linked in any way to Ms Bryl's murder.

Deg Sgt Mark Morton said: "This remains a complex and involved investigation.

"We had hoped that some of the people whose images we have now taken the steps of publishing would have made contact with us before now.

"However we do appreciate that at the time they did not know that this woman would, in a matter of hours, be found dead."

He added: "Beata may not have made an impression on them at the time, but we are now hoping that if they see their own image on flyers around the stations, or in the local newspapers, their memories may be jogged."
