A WOMAN remained in hospital this morning after she tried to stop a man stealing her car after she was flagged down in Stapleford Abbotts.
Police said the 67-year-old local woman was driving in Bournebridge Lane shortly after 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday) when she was stopped by a man who told her she had a leak under the front of the car.
As she got out of the silver Mercedes E220, registration number EY52 LRX, to check it the man got in and drove off. A second man followed in a blue car.
Police said the woman tried to grab the car door but fell and sustained a head injury, black eye and concussion. She was taken to hospital as a precaution and kept in overnight.
The man she spoke to was white, aged about 30, stocky, with short dark hair and wearing a beige or grey bodywarmer. The other man was also white.
