LIP GLOSS, shoulder pads, big hair, perms and blow-drying were the order of the day for the Miss Waltham Forest hopefuls in 1987.

We've taken a look back through the Guardian archives to check out the contestants from 20 years ago.

Eventual winner Deborah Litman, from Chingford, enjoyed swimming and learning to drive.

Tina Vinn also put driving lessons as one of her favourite persuits, along with weight training.

Michelle McNamara enjoyed keep fit, as did fellow attendant Lorraine Wellstead.

Dancing and exercise were popular amongst most of the 15 contestants with Lynn White even declaring that she liked 'keeping in shape.'

You can see all the contestants as they were two decades in our Miss Waltham Forest 1987 picture gallery here.

If you are one of the finalists, or know what they are doing now, let us know.

Details of how to get in touch can be found here.

You can also usse the comments board at the bottom of this story.

If you send us an up-to-date photo we'll publish it so everyone can see that the finalists are every bit as lovely in 2007 as they were in 1987.
