A metal sheet hanging precariously from a roof due to strong winds closed a road this afternoon.
The London Fire Brigade closed George Lane in South Woodford due to safety fears when a metal sheet came loose and looked as if it was about to fall onto the pavement below.
Firefighters removed the sheet around 12.30pm with the use of a crane.
There is currently a yellow warning in force in London and Essex, with gusts of up to 60 mph recorded.
The Met Office said this morning there is a risk of localised damage from these winds and minor disruption to travel is expected.
The road been reopened since the incident.
