SCOTLAND Under-21 coach Billy Stark believes a hard-fought win in Albania has given his side the chance to take Group 10 by the scruff of the neck in tonight's return clash.

Stark was particularly pleased with the way his backline functioned under early pressure in the Eastern European country.

Now the coach is looking for another big performance from skipper Paul Caddis of Celtic and his defensive cohorts at the Falkirk Stadium.

The former Hoops and Aberdeen star believes that if his youngsters can add some potency in front of goal they can collect a second three-point haul and establish themselves as early qualification pacesetters.

Stark said: "Given that we have had such a good start, we obviously want to build on that tonight.

"So we have got to try and get the right mix between being diligent and defending well and being positive and taking the game to Albania.

"There was not a lot between the two sides over there and Albania have the players and the quality to hurt us if we do not make sure we get everything right at Falkirk tonight.

"So at home the onus is on you to win and we have to accept that.

"With the win on Saturday, if we can double up on that then we would give ourselves a real platform for next season and put some pressure on the rest of the group."

With the young Scots collectively carrying no passengers in Saturday's opening encounter in Elbasan, Stark is hoping that his side will once again be firing on all cylinders in the return.

He said: "I felt the level of performance we got from everybody was above-average over there. That is something that you just don't expect although you certainly hope for it.

"But I felt within the back four we were excellent. That gave us the foundation and we will need that again tonight.

"Our captain Paul Caddis was superb and given he was up against their top player his performance was vital.

"Paul Hanlon and Tom Scobbie were also outstanding while Chris Mitchell, who is a right- back, played on the left flank and was tremendous.

"In goal, Alan Martin produced one save of true quality while his overall game was very solid."

With Saturday's victory coming via a penalty from Aberdeen's Chris Maguire, Stark is hoping that his side can prove more potent from open play tonight.

He said: "The first game of the campaign being away at Albania was always going to be a tough one given all the things that entails. If we had drawn away there then I think we would have come away feeling pretty good, so to take the three points was great.

"We had also missed chances and sometimes when that happens you can come unstuck.

But we kept at it and ultimately we deserved it.

"I anticipate it will tight again and the one thing I will be looking for us to improve upon will be in taking our chances if and when we create them.

"When things are tight a game can turn on one missed chance and if we can just sharpen up a wee bit in the final third and retain the qualities that hallmarked the first game, then we will be OK."
