SCOTS youngsters Marc Warren, Barry Hume and Steven O'Hara found the going tough in the first round of the TCL Classic in Hainan Island, China, this morning.
Warren was the best of the bunch with a two-under par 70, with Hume carding 71 and O'Hara 72.
Argentina's Rafael Echenique was the clubhouse leader following a superb 64 which gave him a one-shot advantage over Lu Wen Teh of Taipei and Richard Lee of New Zealand.
England's Lee Westwood shot a 66 to leave him in fourth place.
Paul McGinley, the 2005 runner-up, carded a 72, which included four bogeys. The Ryder Cup star went out in 37 but recovered on the way back, picking up three birdies.
