A mother is taking her children’s book on tour of Waltham Forest libraries ahead of the General Election.
Eleanor Levenson, 36, from Leytonstone collaborated with illustrator Marek Jagucki to educate children about the importance of voting in her book The Election.
Her story follows a young boy called Alex whose parents vote for the stripy party but his friend Evie’s parents are supporters of the spotty party.
The mother-of-two said: “The whole point of living in a democracy is that you get to have a say.
“I want children to know that it is not only worth voting if you win.
“It should be something that you learn in gradual steps. You don’t just get to 18 and understand voting."
The author will be reading The Election to children at Walthamstow Library at 11am and Leyton Library at 2pm on April 7.
At 2pm on April 8 she will be visiting North Chingford Library
