Youth councillors hosted an afternoon tea for sheltered housing residents this week.

The afternoon, which was organised by the Epping Forest Youth Council, saw the teenagers host the intergenerational event including tea, an Easter egg hunt, bingo and games from ‘days gone by’ such as shove ’alf penny, on Tuesday (March 31).

Residents at Buckhurst Court in Albert Road, Buckhurst Hill, were also invited to participate in a raffle which boasted prizes from local shops and businesses.

Louis Walton, the Council’s Youth Engagement Assistant and former Apprentice, said: "I am so inspired by the day.

"I would like to volunteer at a sheltered housing project now.

"We would like to thank Epping Flower Shop, Loughton Book Shop, Morrison’s, Sainsbury’s, Shiv News, Tesco and WH Smiths for their generous donations for the raffle and afternoon tea."
