UKIP has announced its parliamentary candidate for Leyton and Wanstead.
Rosie Beattie, 41, lived in Wanstead for nine years before moving to Bermondsey and will attempt to win the seat from Labour's John Cryer.
She said: “I joined UKIP because of their common sense policies.
“The country has been going downhill for decades, since we joined the EU.”
She said housing was top of her agenda locally, as well as helping small businesses.
“Waltham Forest council has a housing list with, I think, 16,000 people on it. This is because of the high level of immigration into the country.
“UKIP is going to address the cause, not the symptoms."
