The English Defence League (EDL) has announced today it will hold a demonstration in Walthamstow.

Two days after the general election the EDL will take to the streets of the borough to protest against the “continuing assault from Islamification in the UK”.

Originally the march was to be held in Woolwich where the group is campaigning to have a permanent memorial located at the site where Fusilier Lee Rigby was killed almost two years ago.

An announcement on the EDL website today claimed they will hold a "vigorous march" and will deliver "hard-hitting speeches".

“Two days after the General Election, we will be reinforcing the need for government action across a wide range of issues,” the post states.

A list of topics for speeches includes “the radicalisation of young UK Muslims” and the “spread of mosques” as well as “intrusion of unlabeled halal foods,” the group has stated.

The planned march will take place on May 9.
