Police are appealing for information after a two wedding rings, a diamond engagement ring and gold coins were stolen during a house burglary.

The rings and five Krugerrands, South African coins each worth nearly £1,000, were taken after thieves broke into a house in Epping New Road, Buckhurst Hill, between 8am and 8pm on March 30.

The thieves forced entry by smashing a rear patio door, before ransacking the property.

Police have not revealed the value of the two platinum wedding rings and a platinum engagement ring with a diamond also taken in the burglary.

Investigating officer, PC Ben Elliott, said the stolen gold coins are distinctive and look very similar to the ones in these photos.

He said: "I would ask any pawn brokers, jewellery stores, antique dealers or second-hand shops to keep an eye out for these items and call us immediately with any information about them.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in Epping New Road at the relevant times or who has any other information which could help our enquiries."

Anyone with information can call PC Elliott at Loughton CID on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
