A second cyclist has been targeted by robbers on a popular path through Walthamstow marshes within two weeks.

Police were called to reports of a robbery in Spring Hill, on Sunday (April 5) at 10.30pm.

A man was approached by a group of 12 men, one of whom threatened him with a knife and hit him over the head.

The cyclist's bike was stolen, along with other items, and he was treated by paramedics.

The attack comes after a cyclist was punched to the ground and had his bike stolen on the same route by a gang in Coppermill Lane, on March 24.

Waltham Forest police said they were stepping up patrols in the area following last month's attack.

The Guardian is awaiting further details from police.
