A charity have said they are 'overwhelmed' after donations have doubled in a year.
St Clares Hospice in The Broadway, Loughton, announced today that donations have risen from an estimated 20 bags a day to 40 in the space of 12 months.
Manager Paula Smith said she believes that the large increase is a result of refurbishments in the Loughton shop.
She said: "we are so grateful that we have been getting so many donations.
"I believe it is down to refurbishments on our sorting room so we no longer have to turn donations away.
"We have also reduced our prices so stock is flying off the shelves a lot quicker which means we have more space to replace.
"We have just launched our summer range and we are hopeful that our donations may even increase further.
"We are overwhelmed with the amount of donations we have been getting."
