A former West Ham United footballer unveiled the finished £35,000 project for a new games area.

49-year-old Tony Cottee, who scored 115 goals in 279 league matches for West Ham, cut the tape on Friday to the new multi-use facility in Valentines Park, Ilford.

Converted from one of the park’s former tennis courts, the project was part funded by the Football Foundation and Redbridge council’s Olympic Legacy Fund.

There has been repairs to the surface and fencing, repainting, and the installation of two multi-use goals for basketball and football.
