Three people have been left homeless after a fire ripped through their home.
Firefighters were called to the scene in Moorfield, between Nazeing and Harlow, at around 8pm on Sunday following reports of a house on fire.
Three fire engines arrived at the scene and teams reported that both floors of the house were alight and heavily smoke logged.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze which is believed to have started in the bedroom.
The blaze was put out after 50 minutes.
A Red Cross fire support vehicle was also at the scene to assist the family with welfare arrangements following the fire.
An investigation is underway to establish the cause of the incident.
