An impromptu protest was held outside a Waltham Forest police station last night after the arrest of a prominent housing campaigner.
Supporters of 20-year-old Jasmin Stone, of the Focus E15 group, flocked to Leyton Custody Centre in Gainsborough Road, where they stood singing and calling for her release.
Miss Stone was arrested by officers from a house in Newham on suspicion of squatting during an ‘occupation’ of the council flat.
The tenant, who suffers from mental health issues, was evicted from the flat with her teenage daughter, last month.

The group has tcalled the campaign ‘Jane Come Home’, after they regained access last weekend.
Officers from the Met police and Newham council raided the home in Kerrison Road, Stratford, yesterday (April 14).
There were no other arrests.
A police spokesman said: “A 20-year-old woman was arrested on Monday, April 13 at an address on Kerrison Road, E15 on suspicion of squatting in a residential building.
“She was taken to an east London police station and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in mid-May.
“Enquiries continue.”
