An 83-year-old woman was pushed to the floor and robbed by men on a moped in broad daylight.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in Pyenest Road, between Nazeing and Harlow, at around 12.30pm yesterday (April 14).

The 83-year-old victim was walking on the pavement when the suspects pushed her to the ground and stole her grey leather handbag containing her purse, cash, bank cards, keys and documentation.

The two suspects left the scene on a white, red and blue moped-type vehicle. 

The victim suffered multiple injuries to her wrist, face, hands and body and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow for futher treatment after suffering from the injuries and shock.

Investigating officer Ds Tina Hart said: "This was a nasty robbery that has left the elderly victim with multiple injuries and feeling shaken.

"I am keen to find the people responsible and would like to speak to anyone who saw the robbery, or who has any information that could help our investigation."
