A man has sustained serious injuries during an incident in a shop undergoing building work.

Fire crews have been on scene in Leyton High Road for the last two days as the structure of the store, which adjoins a bank, is assessed.

The shop, formerly known as ‘Boom City’ was undergoing renovation work at the time.

London Ambulance Service was called to the scene on Tuesday, at around 11.20am.

Paramedics and fire fighters worked to help a man believed to have been injured by a collapsing wall and roof beam, according to reports.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: "We sent a number of resources, including an ambulance crew and our hazardous area response team (HART) to the scene.

"We treated a man reported to be in his 20s for head injuries and he was a taken, as a priority, to Royal London hospital."
