Independent music stores will leave you in a spin after they drop the bassline tomorrow (April 18) for Record Store Day 2015.

The revival in vinyl sales has seen 40 new independent record shops open in UK high streets in the last five years.

To mark the eighth year of the UK event, local shops will be uniting with artists to celebrate with a host of exclusive and rare releases from Churches’ new 7in single, to David Bowie’s picture disk version of Changes.

Berwick Street, Soho, will be transformed into a mini music festival, with all five stores in the area – Sister Ray, Reckless Records, The Music and Video Exchange, Sounds of the Universe and Phonica – joining forces, along with the shops, restaurants and the market to celebrate the day and a stage hosted by Shaun Keaveny (BBC 6 Music) boasts gigs from John Cooper Clark, Ryley Walker, LazyTalk, 2 Bears, Young Knives and DJ Yoda.

Nearby The British Record Shop Archive and the Museum of Soho has organised a free pop-up exhibition tracing the history of record retail in the area which runs until April 20.

Vinyl Pimp in Hackney Wick will host a party with DMX Crew, Equinox, Bambooman, Tina Turner’s Right Glove, Metrist and Tim Parker; Deal Real Pop-up Record Store will launch in Newburgh Street, off Carnaby Street, with a day curated by Kano and featuring Ghetts, Novelist and more; Rough Trade East in Old Truman Brewery will host gigs from Hooton Tennis Club, The 2 Bears, Denai Moore, Riddles and more; and Lion Coffee and Records in Hackney and Love Vinyl in Hoxton will also be taking part.

Organisers of the day have also teamed up with Rega Researchers to auction off an exclusive Pete Mckee illustrated turntable to raise money for charity partner War Child.
