A mechanic has described trying to stop a brutal road rage fight.

Violence flared between two men, aged in their 30s, after a minor collision outside of the New and Part Worn Tyre shop, in Hall Lane, Chingford, at around 11.30am yesterday (April 16).

Manager Naeem Akhtar watched on the shop's CCTV system as the men got out of their vehicles and started punching and kicking one another.

Mr Akhtar said a crowd of people witnessed the fight, which lasted about 15 minutes.

He phoned the police and tried to break the fight up as one of the men started bleeding from his injuries.

The 28-year-old mechanic said: "I have seen anything like this in my life, not even on TV.

"One man was bleeding like hell.

"He was injured badly and had blood all over his face from being punched.

"People stood by and did nothing so after about 10 minutes I went outside and stood in the middle of them.

"I said 'please, please stop it."

The fight eventually ended when police arrived at the scene at around 11.50am.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to Hall Lane to reports of a fight.

"Officers found a man with injuries.

"London Ambulance Service was called to the scene and he was taken to hospital.

"His injuries are not serious."

Paramedics treated a man in his 30s for head injuries.

A 32-year-old was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and taken into police custody.

He has since been bailed to a date in mid June.
