Police are appealing for witnesses after two young men died in a collision between a motorcycle and a pedestrian this weekend.

The collision happened at 5.30pm on Saturday when a 20-year-old and 16-year-old were pronounced dead at the scene in Woodford Avenue, Clayhall near the junction with Lord Avenue.

The 20-year-old man was believed to have been riding the motorcycle with a 16-year-old boy as pillion passenger.

Next of kin have been informed and post-mortem examinations and formal identification will take place in due course.

The man hit by the bike, whose age police do not know at this stage, was taken by ambulance to hospital where his condition is serious but not believed to be life-threatening.
