A long-standing headteacher was described as “inspirational” for overseeing his school’s fifth ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspection in a row.

Dr Paul Doherty has since 1981 led Trinity Catholic High School in Mornington Road, Woodford Green.

The Ofsted inspection report, released this week, found the school ‘outstanding’ in all areas, and described Dr Doherty’s leadership as “passionate” and “enthusiastic”.

It said: “The inspirational headteacher is passionately committed to providing an outstanding education for every student.

“He leads by example and his clear vision drives everything the school does.

“Students, staff and governors share his enthusiasm and his very high expectations.

“Parents and carers are highly supportive of the school, as is demonstrated by the extremely positive response to the survey.

“A number of parents and carers made a point of speaking or writing to inspectors about their gratitude to the headteacher and other staff for the excellent care and education their children receive.”

Dr Doherty, who was awarded an OBE from the Queen in 2012 for his work in education, has also written over 100 novels and history books.

The 68-year-old called the inspection result “a most remarkable achievement”.

He said: “This is vindication and confirmation of how efficient and effective our policies are, the impact of our vision and the quality of service this school offers the students in its care.

“This is the fifth Ofsted inspection report Trinity has received over the last twenty years and, as on the each previous occasion, the conclusion is ‘outstanding in all aspects’.

“I believe that Trinity is one of only three or four schools nationally which has achieved such a judgement for a fifth consecutive time.

“I am very grateful for the support our parents show day in and day out, month in month out, year in and year out, this means so much to us.”
