A CCTV appeal has been launched after a shop manager was assaulted and subjected to a tirade of abuse.

The man pictured is wanted in connection with assault at My Cake and More, a cake decorating shop in Old Church Road, Chingford, on April 11 at around 11am.

Manager Sharon Gonsalves has described how she was attacked when she politely asked him to leave after he abused staff.

Ms Gonsalves first approached him and asked him if he needed help as he was complaining about "rusty pans."

"He started shouting the word 'rude' and then began swearing at me calling me a 'f***ing b****'," she said.

"He kept on ranting and raving and shouting out 'homophobic' so I asked him to leave.

"He then grabbed me by my neck and pulled my shirt. He said a few more abusive words and then left."

While Ms Gonsalves was on the phone to police, the man returned.

He walked over to her and scratched her hand as he grabbed the phone off of her.

He left the second time after a customer intervened.

Ms Gonsalves added: “I was in shock. It was so unprovoked, it came out of nowhere.”

According to staff, he is regularly seen in the Chingford Mount area and possibly travels on the 97 bus.

He is described as white, aged in his late 20s, with a stocky build and is around 5ft 5ins.
