The Guardian has asked each parliamentary candidate to list five reasons why they should become an MP at the General Election on May 7.
Conservative candidate for Leyton and Wanstead Matthew Scott explains why you should vote for him.
1) I have experience from having worked in a number of different roles in my life, both working and voluntary. I've run a community centre and been a volunteer for organisations such as the Scouts.
2) I pledge to live in the constituency if elected but would not claim expenses for travel, hotels or sustenance. I will also hold regular surgeries and public meetings so that I am always available and accountable.
3) I will work hard in conjunction with local employers to help create more jobs. Unemployment has halved since the last election, but there is some way to go. I will hold jobs and apprenticeships fairs to help move towards full employment.
4) I know that talking to local teachers and parents that there is concern about school places in the constituency. Both local authorities have been given funds to increase provisiom, so I will work to ensure more places for children in my constituency.
5) I will work with doctors, clinical commissioners and NHS England to help increase access to GP appointments locally and extend opening hours. I would also lobby hard for the increased support and resources that hospitals need.
