An alternative rock and hip hop band famous for collaborating with Quentin Tarantino will be headlining Walthamstow's Grillstock festival this summer.

New York City band Fun Lovin' Criminals has been announced as the headline act for September 5 at Chestnuts Field, off Forest Road.

Inspired by food culture from southern United States, Grillstock is the UK’s biggest BBQ and music festival outside of the States and Walthamstow was chosen as the London location earlier this year.

Fun Lovin' Criminals are best known for Tarantino's Pulp Fiction hit ‘Scooby Snacks’ and ‘Love Unlimited’ and comical tributes to Barry White.

Over 25 band and DJs will play across three music stages with Indie rock band Razorlight headlining on September 6.

Grillstock opened its third smokehouse outside of Bristol and Manchester in Hoe Street, Walthamstow, last month.

The two-day festival, in partnership with Waltham Forest council, promises to be a "rowdy weekend of meat, music and mayhem" for up to 40,000 visitors.

Other acts include DJ Grandmaster Flash, Latino band the Cubans Bros, Hayseed Dixie and DJ Yoda.

At the heart of the event is the smouldering 'King of the Grill' competition where dozens of teams show off their culinary skills over the smoky coals and battle it out to be crowned the grand champion.

Seven rounds of competitive cooking each day will offer fans the chance to taste meats off the grill before they are judged by Ray Lampe, also known as Dr BBQ.

Festival-goers will also get the chance to try Grillstock's very own Pale Ale and specially imported craft beer from New York's Brooklyn Brewery.

Tickets cost £30 for the Saturday and £25 on the Sunday.
