The RSPCA has appealed for information after the decomposing remains of a dog were found in woodland.
The brown and white terrier was found in woods near Manor Road, Loughton, on April 27.
RSPCA inspector Adam Jones said: "It is not known how this poor dog died, or how long his body had been there.
"It could be that there is a concerned owner out there not knowing where he went.”
Anyone with information should contact the RSPCA by phoning 0300 123 8018.
