A free event will celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE day with a range of vintage-themed activities.

Bunting workshops, “make your own propaganda posters” and retro hair workshops will all be held for free at the Zinc Arts Centre in Ongar High Street this Friday (May 8).

The hourly sessions will be accompanied by a 1940s themed menu, with a resident “cupcake expert” creating a selection of treats.

Senior programme manager at Zinc Arts, Sonia Cakebread, said: “Just like the rest of the nation, Zinc Arts want to play their part in showing their appreciation and thanks to the service men and women who sacrificed their lives for the country that we are able to live in today.

“We want to show this thanks by doing what we do best, providing arts workshops for the local community.”

The event will run from 4pm to 8pm.
