A new mayor has been elected in Loughton.
Cllr Judy Jennings has stepped into the position of town mayor after serving as deputy for the past year.
On accepting the ceremonial chain last night (May 13) at Murray Hall in Borders Lane, Loughton, Cllr Jennings thanked outgoing mayor Cllr Sharon Weston.
The new mayor described Cllr Weston as a "true professional".
Cllr Jennings, who began serving Loughton as a town councillor in 2008, volunteers at the Epping Forest Citizens Advice Bureau and the Loughton Arts Centre.
She is also a member of the Woodford Symphony Orchestra.
During her year, Mrs Jennings said she plans to help raise funds for several local charities including Loughton’s Voluntary Care Association and the Lopping Hall Trust.
Cllr Carol Davies will serve as Cllr Jenning's deputy.
