Dozens of new acts and venues have signed up for this year's Chingford Village Festival.

The popular community festival, organised by Irene Bull and now in its 21st year, will take place in and around Chingford Green in Station Road, on June 13.

Ms Bull has run the annual festival, supported by the Guardian, since its inception in 1994 and continues to attract huge numbers year-after-year.

Following a break in 2013, last year's event saw up to 15,000 visitors throughout the day.

Similar to last year, the event starting at midday will be opened by London Assembly member Jennette Arnold OBE.

New acts lined-up include England's only professional basketball team the London Lions, who will demonstrate their skills in the car park of Chingford Assembly Hall and interact with the crowd through competitions and joining sessions.

Music at the Assembly Hall will continue until 9pm.

Ms Bull, 62, said: "There is so much more going on this year.

"I expect it will be even busier and bigger than last year as people know about the festival a lot more and people want to be involved more than ever before.

"This festival is very much a community-centred occasion so it is important I keep it going for as long as I can.

"Now until June 13, you can expect to see me pounding around the streets of Waltham Forest giving out leaflets."

The lead sponsor for this year's festival is car supermarket Motorpoint.
