The force is definitely strong with model makers at Madame Tussauds who have recreated iconic scenes from Star Wars in incredibly lifelike detail.

Opening this weekend the exhibition will immerse fans in 11 of the most famous moments from the first six episodes which took 180 sculptors, hair artists, colourists, set designers and prop makers more than year to create.

No longer in a galaxy far, far away, you can now come face-to-face with all your favourite heroes and villains, and visitors can wield a lightsaber with Anakin Skywalker; feel the Force alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn when they take on Darth Maul on Naboo; hang out with Han Solo in the legendary cantina bar before stepping onto the Millennium Falcon with the Wookiee warrior, Chewbacca; and witness the ultimate battle as father and son, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, embark on their final duel.

Jabba the Hut is the largest figure on display with Princess Leia posing nearby in his throne room in that famous gold bikini.

The opportunity for selfies is as infinite as the universe.

Madame Tussauds, Marylebone Road, NW1 5LR, opens May 16. Details: 0871 894 3000, madametussauds.com
