Members of a young dance troupe must finish their homework before appearing in the semi-final of ITV's Britain's Got Talent, their Walthamstow-based choreographer has insisted.

Unity All Stars are busy preparing a "mind-blowing" performance after winning through to compete for a place in the final of the hit show featuring Simon Cowell.

While delighted at the 20-strong troupe's success, choreographer Tashan Muir insists they must keep their success in perspective and continue to focus on their education, despite a hectic rehearsal schedule.

Mr Muir has been working with the Forest Gate-based troupe, which is made up of 10 to 16-year-olds, for the past two years.

He said: “One of the first rules is they must bring their homework to rehearsals, because education is the most important thing.

“If they haven’t completed their coursework then they can’t come in.

“We are working really hard for the semi-final with a routine that will hopefully blow people’s minds.

“We want to get people excited and get them to vote.

“Our own tour is our ultimate goal- that would be a dream come true.”

The semi-final will be aired on ITV on May 25.
