A talented young falutist has won a place at a prestigious music school.
Mia Lundie-Smith, 14, a Year 9 student at Frederick Bremer in Walthamstow, will join the Centre for Young Musicians (CYM), a division of the Guildhall School, following a rigourous audition process.
Mia, who has been playing the flute for five years, will attend Saturday classes at the school.
She said: “I’m so excited to join the CYM.
"It will be a great addition to the excellent musical education that I already receive at my school.
“I am looking forward to meeting the staff and other students every Saturday and feel it will give me a great opportunity to develop as a musician.
"My advice to other musicians who also have a dream to attend the CYM is to practice every day as it really pays off."
Headteacher at Frederick Bremer in Siddeley Road, Jenny Smith, said: “We are delighted to hear that Mia has been given this wonderful opportunity which will allow her to fine tune her incredible musical skills.”
