A club set a new world record at the weekend to mark their first anniversary.

More than 120 people took to the flat flake at Lee Valley White Water Centre in Station Road, Waltham Abbey on Sunday (May 17) in hopes of setting a Guinness World Record for the highest number of people simultaneously Eskimo Rolling in kayaks.

The event marked the first birthday of the Lee Valley Paddlesports Club. 

The mass Eskimo Rolling success saw paddlers from across the region flip their kayaks 360 degrees at the same time in front of an audience of family and friends.

Lee Valley Paddlesports Club Chairman Ged Burke said: “I am ecstatic.

“The day was fantastic.

“It could not have been better, we were blessed with fantastic weather.

“123 paddlers simultaneously completed two consecutive eskimo rolls.

“So a new Guinness record has been set.”
