Officers on patrol in Waltham Forest stopped a young man at risk of committing suicide running onto a busy dual carriageway.
A woman called police on Sunday (May 17) at just after 9pm to report that her son-in-law was in a distressed state and might attempt to harm himself.
An extensive search was conducted and the man, aged in his 20s, was located on a slip road next to the A406 North Circular.
He was detained by officers as he attempted to run into the road.
Police have refused to reveal the exact location of where the man was found but posted messages of their work on Twitter.
