No further action will be taken against a Waltham Forest man arrested in connection with the murder of a senior Pakistani politician.

The 31-year-old was held on suspicion of conspiracy to murder Dr Imran Farooq on August 27 last year. 

His home was raided by counter terrorism command detectives and he was held in a cell for 24 hours before being released on bail.

Scotland Yard today confirmed no further action will be taken against the man.  

Dr Farooq, 50, had been living in exile in the UK for more than a decade when he was stabbed several times and bludgeoned with a brick outside his home in Green Lane, Edgware, in September 2010. 

He was a prominent member of Pakistani political party MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement).

Police have released without charge three men arrested in connection with Dr Farooq's death. 

Detectives are still appealing for help to find two Pakistani men who fled the UK on the evening of the fatal attack. 

Moshin Ali Syed, 30, was in the UK between February 2010 and 16 September 2010.

Muhammad Kashif Khan Kamran, 35, who was in the UK between early September 2010 and 16 September 2010.
