The average person from Chigwell is prepared to travel over 1,000 miles for love, a dating website has claimed.

Analysis of profiles on eHarmony.co.uk found that people living in Chigwell would travel the third furthest in the UK, and would go 1,224 miles to find love – the equivalent of a trip to Berlin and back.

15,000 members were analysed by the website, which found that only people living in Thornton Heath in London or Rossendale in Lancashire would travel further.

People living in nearby Woodford Green however would only be willing to travel 33.1 miles to find the love of their life, the fifth lowest in the country and far lower than the national average of 419 miles.

Nationwide younger people, men and those earning the most money were more willing to travel for love.

An eHarmony spokeswoman said: “Today we are more mobile than ever - whether it is physically upping sticks and moving cities for new job opportunities, or chatting using the likes of Skype and social media.

“The same goes for relationships.”
